Java Card and the upcoming EU 5G certification scheme (IDEMIA)

Biography: Heiko is responsible for the evaluation of new technologies, strategy development and the representation of IDEMIA in telecoms standardization organizations. Before working in this position, Heiko was Head of the Product Line 3G, Head of Technology Innovation and Standardization and before that Head of Product Management Telecommunications. He has previously held various positions in Product Management, Marketing and Sales at IDEMIA. Before joining IDEMIA he worked for an engineering company in Hamburg as a planning engineer. Heiko holds a university degree in electronic engineering from the University of Bremen, Germany.

Webinar Overview: The European Union is working on a security certification scheme for 5G. The European Union Agency for cyber security (ENISA) has been tasked to develop a certification scheme for 5G to protect the communication system against possible cyber threats. One of the main parts if the scheme is to protect the eUICC (embedded UICC) and the related background systems for remote provisioning. This webinar is describing the current status and the approach selected to achieve this goal.

Secured hardware for digital currencies (Infineon)

Biography: Timo is Lead Principal Engineer at Infineon’s Digital Security and Identity group. He started working as a smart card software engineer in 2003 and has been using Java Card technology ever since. At Infineon, he leads a team of system architects who help customers integrate hardware-based security into their designs, by providing security solutions for payments, identity, IoT, consumer electronics and automotive. As a member of the Java Card Forum Business Committee, he is also involved in the standardisation of Java Card technology.

Webinar Overview: The fascinating evolution of digital currencies from the emergence of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, to the rise of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) is closely linked to innovations in applied cryptography. In this webinar, I will first give an overview of the different types of digital currencies and then explain the use cases for secure hardware wallets with some examples. Finally, I will transfer these to Java Card platforms in terms of security, functionality and performance.

She was previously the mAutomotive Director of the Connected Living Programme at the GSMA. Francesca has a proven track record for launching and developing new initiatives in the planning and applied use of new technologies in transport and telecommunication fields. She focuses on defining the appropriate strategic approach, networking, problem solving, mediating, delivering results, and drilling down for full deployment.

Biography: Cristian is a Senior Software Engineer at Oracle – Java Platform Group organization and a member of the Bucharest-Romania team within Java Card and Embedded Security Technology field. He has over 17 years of experience with IT technologies and he has been a member of IEEE and GlobalPlatform since 2014. His work focuses on Cyber Security, Java Card, IoT – Internet of Things, Crypto Blockchain, eMbedded and Mobile applications development/computing, Cloud / Fog / Infrastructures Distributed and Parallel computing, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and computational cryptography.

Presenter: Bryan Muehlmeier, Director & Product Manager, Oracle
Biography: Bryan serves as the Director and Product Manager of Device Connectivity within Oracle’s Real Time Health System, where he spearheads the development and implementation of a suite of solutions, including Bedside Medical Device Interfaces, Laboratory Medical Device Interfaces, and Oracle Health Mobile Vitals Collection. His extensive experience spans over 27 years at Cerner/Oracle, encompassing diverse roles such as Software Developer and Architect for PathNet (HLA, Microbiology, Gen Lab), Lead Architect for SurgiNet Surgery and Anesthesia, and Knowledge Architect for EMR/Critical Care. Bryan holds a degree in Computer Science from Truman State University.  In his tenure, he has been awarded 9 patents with 17 in the application stage.
